We’re going to tell you everything you’ll need to know about JustCloud pricing, storage, backup, share functions, plans, customer service, and more. Read on this overview of JustCloud storage services, and decide if they are the best choice for you.
JustCloud – General Information
JustCloud is a cloud-based file sharing and backup service, developed by JustDevelopIt. As far as cloud-based solutions are concerned, JustCloud is considered to be a decent solution to backing up personal files and folders, but not recommendable for small and large businesses. Apart from JustCloud, JDI has other cloud-based file hosting backup solutions such as ZipCloud and MyPCBackup, so they have some experience developing cloud storage solutions.
This cloud backup solution was designed with simplicity and flexibility in mind. Its main selling points are, on the one hand, the fact that it is relatively easy to use, and, on the other, that you can access stored data using any mobile device you have.
JustCloud was designed to be easy to use and deploy. In just a matter of minutes, you will be able to back up your favorite documents and media files. To start using JustCloud as your personal cloud backup service, the first thing you’ve got to do is to create an account on their official web page.
When you sign up on JustCloud, you will receive 1GB of free storage space. This storage is meant only as a demo. To increase storage capacity, choose one of the three paid predetermined plans, download the client, and the service will automatically scan your computer for files in need of a backup. We will be taking a closer look at plan pricing later in this JustCloud review.
The free cloud storage capacity is rather limited when compared with that of Dropbox, for example. However, it is enough to give you a basic idea of how JustCloud works.
JustCloud Plans and Pricing
JustCloud offers 1GB free storage space for anyone who signs up. They also have three paid plans: Home, Premium, and Unlimited. The Premium and Home accounts are mostly addressed to individual users, who aren’t using more than two computers, while the Unlimited plan is suited for companies.
These are the basic prices for JustCloud storage plans per month. If you decide to pay for longer periods, the price per month for cloud storage is lower. You can also opt for additional features. These additional features will cost extra. You can read more about JustCloud pricing on their website.
JustCloud In-Depth Review
There are three ways in which you can backup files with JustCloud:
- By using the automatic backup feature. JustCloud’s client will scan your computer, and will automatically start to backup your files and folders. Alternately, you can schedule the automatic backup feature.
- By drag-and-drop. Select the files or folders you want to backup and simply drag-and-drop them on the JustCloud client.
- Using the online account. You can back up your files directly from the web browser, using the same drag-and-drop method.
File restoration is quite easy. All you need to do is locate the file you want in the JustCloud file manager. Unfortunately, you cannot restore single files. You have to restore entire folders.
As far as data security is concerned, JustCloud has done its job. File protection features include HVAC, Ultra Redundant Power. In addition, JustCloud stores all data in secure servers. These servers are scattered around the globe, and their locations are not publicly known.
JustCloud doesn’t offer many advanced features. Their pricing plans does include a list of optional features. However, when taking a closer look at this list, you realize these are pretty much just better versions of the standard features, like file syncing and versioning.
JustCloud Pros & Cons
Like any other cloud-based service, JustCloud has its advantages and disadvantages. Unfortunately for the users, it would seem that JustCloud has more weak points than strong points.
- Easy to create an account;
- Easy to deploy;
- Decent pricing;
- Drag-and-drop features;
- 24/7 customer service;
- Cross-platform compatibility;
- File-sharing is easy.
- Slow backup speed: it takes the manager approximately two and a half minutes to back up a 15 MB file;
- Lack of transparency: according to many JustCloud complaints, many users have noted a huge difference between what they saw on the web and the actual product;
- Slow download and upload speeds;
- No technical support service: users who are experiencing technical issues are redirected to the FAQ page or online forums;
- Can’t restore entire files: users have to download one file at a time;
- Poor business plans;
- Annoying popups;
- Uninstallation process takes too long, and it is not complete;
- Users can’t upload files larger than 5GB;
- It’s hard to cancel a subscription
Based on our JustCloud review, bottom line is that this cloud service may offer some moderate advantages, but it can hardly be considered the best cloud storage service. Furthermore, due to its ineffectiveness when it comes to backing up a large amount of data, this service is more suitable for a home computer or device than for a company.
JustCloud Alternative Options
As part of our JustCloud review article, we will put JustCloud to the test in order to see how it fares against other cloud storage services.
Dropbox is, without a doubt, one of the best cloud storage providers out there on the market. Dropbox has many of the features we would have liked to see in JustCloud. For instance, while Dropbox offers full-fledged integration, JustCloud only sticks with the downloadable manager and the online account. Dropbox also offers twice as much free storage space as JustCloud.
Livedrive is also a good alternative, especially if you’re looking for a cloud service for business. We spoke at length about the pros and cons of this service in our Livedrive review.
For users who are looking for a cloud solution with a bit more options and flexibility, MediaFire is a solid option. Besides the basic cloud storage features, MediaFire offers a wide variety of collaboration and sharing tools that are worth looking into.
In order to summarize our JustCloud review, we have to say that even though JustCloud lacks some features, it somehow manages to rise above its condition thanks to its unbeatable price offering. As a cloud-based backup solution, JustCloud offers relatively good value for the money it costs.
We would argue JustCloud is more suited to individual users, who want to backup files and folders on their personal computer, than for large companies. Lacking a robust and fair billing system, JustCloud is not recommended as a business solution. Share your opinion on JustCloud or our JustCloud review by dropping us a line in the comment form below!
